Crusaders presents painted and sculpted medieval figures poised on a stage of armory. These are ancient and contemporary travellers, tourists or soldiers. Medieval history represents a start-point for my collective memories. Living in culturally diverse Australia offers a clarifying perspective for my European background and its aesthetic preferences from afar. I have spent many more years living in outback Australian communities than in traditional European towns, more time in square corrugated shacks than in stone buildings, yet feel drawn to both environments when thinking of home.
